Curbside Checkout Service 

How does curbside work?
 Step 1: Place item(s) on hold.
  • Use our website to search for items currently available at the Library.
  • You can our online catalog or call the circulation desk at (734)449-0066 to place items on hold .
 Step 2: Wait for notification, then come pick up your items during curbside hours.
  • You will receive email, text, or phone notification when your hold(s) is available for pick up.
  • After you receive notification, stop by the Library during regular hours (Monday - Thursday 10 am - 8 pm, Friday 11 am - 6 pm, and Saturday 11 am - 3 pm) to pick up your items. For faster service onsite, call ahead with an estimated time of arrival so we can have your items ready.
  • We will check out your items, then place items on a cart/table outside of the building.
 Step 3: Pickup your items at the Library.
  • When you arrive at the Library, please pull into the parking lot and call the Library at (734) 449-0066 or use the Ring doorbell.
  • We will place items on the cart/table outside the building.
  • Grab your items and enjoy!

***Patrons and staff should not approach one another and respect the need for social distancing. This may feel uncomfortable but is necessary to provide a safe, contactless pickup service. If you notice patrons at the pickup cart/table, please remain in your vehicle until the previous patron has departed.


Frequently Asked Curbside Questions

How do I request items? 
You can call the Library and request items for check out over the phone or you can place a request via our online catalog on our website or mobile app using your patron account information.
Can I order materials through MeLcat? 
Yes! Please visit www.mel.org to place your request. 
What are curbside hours?
Curbside is offered Monday – Thursday 10 am – 8:00 pm, Friday 11 am – 6:00 pm, and Saturday 11 am – 3:00 pm.
How will I know my hold items are ready for pickup?
You will receive an email, text, or phone notification, based on the preference selected in your account. 
What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?
If a patron experiences mobility issues, we can provide an accommodation such as placing bagged items on the hood or in the trunk of your vehicle. Please request this when you call.
What materials are available for pickup?
All physical materials excluding puppets are available for check out, including books, DVDs, etc.
Can you look for specific items or provide reading suggestions?
Yes! Contact the Library for reading suggestions.
What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?
The contactless curbside pickup model we are using provides maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff. Staff will use gloves and cloth face coverings in accordance 300.16 COVID-19 Exposure Prevention, Preparedness, and Response Policy and CDC guidelines.
What are you doing with return materials?
All physical materials will be quarantined for 96 hours upon return. Please note, you may not see items come of your account immediately.
