A Northfield Township Area Library card is your free ticket to books, eBooks, movies, music, and so much more. You can borrow items from our collection or you can explore the millions of items from our partner libraries using the MeLCat interlibrary loan system. Not to mention you will have access to free Wifi and computers with high-speed internet with Microsoft programs. You can download a patron application here or you can stop by our circulation desk and fill out an application there.
I don't live in Northfield Township. Can I still get a library card?
Yes! We do not have residency restrictions. However, we do ask that you bring in a valid photo ID if you're over the age of 18.
Is there a minimum age to get a library card?
No, we do not have a minimum age to give a child a library card. However, we do require that a parent or legal guardian signs for any minor who wishes to have a library card. The parent or legal guardian must have also have a valid Northfield Township Area Library card. The parent or legal guardian assumes all responsibility for the items borrowed by the minor and any fees incurred due to damaged, lost, or overdue books.
How long can items be checked out?
Most items in our collection can be checked out for two weeks at a time. The only exclusions to this are music CDs and fictional DVDs which have a loan period of one week. Documentaries and DVDs found in the non-fiction section have a two week loan period.
What if I forget my library card at home?
Don't fret. We can always look up your patron record using your last name.
Does my library card expire?
Yes, our library cards expire every year: one year from your initial application or your most recent renewal. Renewing is easy. Verify with us that your contact information has not changed and you're all set for another year. You can renew over the phone or in person at the circulation desk.
My phone number/email/address changed. What should I do?
If any of your contact information has changed, it is your responsibility to notify the Library. For address changes, please bring in an updated photo ID or official piece of mail, like a utility bill, and we can update your information.
Can I get eBooks or audiobooks on my phone, computer, or tablet with my library card?

The only exception to this is WiFi hotspots which MUST be picked up by the patron who reserved the hotspot. You can learn more about our hotspot policy here.
